“The demands of work are different from the demands of studying. Where 60 percent might be a passing grade and 80 percent a distinction at school, at work even 99 percent is a failure. Only 100 percent is good enough.”

This powerful statement by founder and Chairman John Lau perfectly encapsulates the ethos of Cargo Service (CS) Group.

The best-in-class integrated logistics services CS Group offers are tailored to meet 100 percent of the client’s expectations. This commitment stems from the understanding that in a globalized economy, there’s a thin line between success and failure in logistics, and only absolute precision and reliability can ensure success.

How does CS Group achieve this standard?

It starts with leadership. Lau trains and guides the management team, instilling a continuous improvement and client-focused innovation culture to treat clients as a top priority in daily operations. ‘Never saying no’ to client requests drives them to constantly evolve and find creative solutions, making it a pioneer in the logistics industry.

Technological Innovation to Redefine Logistics Excellence

CS Group perfects its service by embracing technology and innovation in all operational facets. Recognizing technology’s central role in logistics, it invests in advanced systems to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and provide clients with clear visibility.

The CS PO Portal depicts this commitment, designed to elevate supply chain visibility by serving as a centralized hub for managing purchase orders (PO), bookings, and shipments. This platform connects customers, suppliers, and freight forwarders, facilitating a smooth information flow. Integrated with ediSON— CS Group’s proprietary freight operating system—the portal ensures detailed tracking and management of shipments and PO progress, offering complete visibility and control to all stakeholders.

In tandem with the CS PO Portal, eCoreOS and eCWMS further enhance operational efficiency. eCoreOS simplifies inventory management, seamlessly integrating with major e-commerce platforms and logistics partners for real-time visibility and optimized order distribution. The ERP module within eCoreOS coordinates business operations, combining inventory tracking and CRM utilization. Tailored for warehouse operations, eCWMS supports B2B and B2C operations, adapting to customer needs with features like barcode tracking, RF scanning, inbound tracking, outbound management, and comprehensive reporting, providing real-time visibility into inventory metrics.

Together, these systems support both international freight business and local distribution logistics. A demonstration of CS Group’s technological prowess is CNShip4Shop, a subsidiary eCommerce platform specializing in international B2C deliveries. Born out of CS Group’s logistics experience and global network, this platform boasts innovative features, such as the ‘Cap & Go’ function, automating information capture on shipment invoices and documents through advanced in-house electronic management systems and optical character recognition (OCR) technology. This automation significantly reduces data entry time, streamlining shipment registration and parcel delivery processes for heightened efficiency.

Elevating eCommerce with Advanced Robotics and AI

As eCommerce evolves, CS Group is committed to advancing its digital capabilities. It plans to inject additional development momentum into building a comprehensive ecosystem. This includes using high-end technologies like AI and big data to generate tailored customer recommendations, achieve precise retail logistics, and enhance supply chain management solutions. The approach improves user experience and streamlines customer relationship management through advanced systems.

Recognizing the importance of robotic applications in warehouses and high-quality infrastructure, CS Group established smart warehouses in Shanghai in 2021. Equipped with conveyor belts and autonomous case-handling robots, the flagship warehouses perfectly serve as the regional distribution hubs for renowned high-fashion brands. The fashion logistics center in Hong Kong has been upgraded in September 2023. With an automated mobile robot (AMR) system deployed, the storage capacity has increased by 35 percent with 'Shelf-to-Person' robots, and sorting processes have been optimized, growing over 150 percent throughput capacity.

Altering Wine Logistics and Market Expansion

Hong Kong, leveraging Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) and international agreements, has become a key hub for wine and spirits trading in Asia, serving as an ideal gateway to China’s growing alcoholic beverages market.

CN Logistics, a CS Group subsidiary, leads Hong Kong’s wine logistics sector with global partnerships and state-of-the-art facilities. Accredited by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA), it provides dedicated wine logistics services, including temperature-controlled storage, repackaging, and timely deliveries.

CS Group’s response to China’s thriving wine market is PJF Wines, a content-driven cross-border eMarketplace. This comprehensive platform seamlessly integrates online-to-offline distribution, encompassing essential services such as product listing, logistics, customs clearance, inventory management, and marketing. It aims to provide wine merchants and overseas wineries with convenient one-stop solutions, facilitating their expansion into China's vast consumer market.

Sustainability for Green Endeavors

CS Group sees sustainability as integral to long-term business success and value creation for stakeholders. Since 2021, its subsidiary, CN Logistics, has implemented a one-stop Green Solution focusing on circular economy, carbon neutrality, and co-creating green initiatives. This underscores CS Group’s commitment to collaborating with customers for sustainable business operations and a cleaner supply chain.

In 2022, CN Logistics Green Solutions played a pivotal role in processing more than 310 tons of recyclable materials on behalf of 25 luxury brands. This substantial effort resulted in a remarkable reduction in fashion wastage, showcasing our commitment to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. The initiative deployed over 30 electric vehicles across Hong Kong and mainland China, reducing over 54,000 tons of carbon emissions annually.

CS Group extends its sustainability commitment beyond direct operations by partnering with Redress, a Hong Kong-based environmental NGO. Together, they aim to revolutionize the fashion industry by reducing textile waste through an innovative Takeback Program.

Looking ahead, CS Group plans to expand its electric vehicle fleet, emphasizing its commitment to green transformation in the logistics industry. The company will strategically install solar panels, supplying renewable energy to overseas offices and warehouses in Malaysia, Italy, and mainland China. This aims to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and minimize environmental impact.

CS Group pioneered integrated logistics, seamlessly blending technological innovation with sustainability. Its forward-thinking approach in the ever-evolving logistics landscape sets a new benchmark for excellence and environmental responsibility.
