Ivy Technology
One-Stop-Shop for Warehouse Automation Needs

While technological innovations continue to shape the electronics landscape, its repair and service providers must evolve in parallel to remain the custodians of reliability, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.

Ivy Technology, with deep roots as a technology firm with global returns management expertise spanning over 25 years, ensures just that.

It specializes in returns, refurbishment, repair, and repackaging across a wide spectrum of industries, including telecommunications, laptop computing, networking, medical technology, consumer electronics, and, notably, stands as a global partner to some of the best-known brands like Dell Technologies and Cisco.

One of the key pillars of Ivy’s value proposition is its mastery of return merchandise authorization (RMA) management. This prowess unlocks two crucial benefits for industry clients.

On the one hand, it empowers clients to respond swiftly to quality issues, ensuring customer satisfaction remains preeminent. On the other, facilitating agile stock rebalancing and optimizing inventory management translate into tangible cost efficiencies.

Another differentiation comes from Ivy’s decade-long expertise in warehouse deployment services. This journey began in partnership with one of the world’s largest e-retailers, known for its expansive warehouse automation infrastructure.

“Over the years, we have undertaken many vital functions, including deployment, service maintenance, upgrades, and retrofits for the solutions installed within client’s fulfillment centers. This substantial experience positions us as experts in the warehouse deployment services space,” says David Harrison, SVP, robotics and field service.

More importantly, while many of its peers function as field service organizations, offering deployment installation through direct labor, Ivy provides a full-service partnership that entails not just point installation and maintenance but the capability to deliver technology retrofits. Ivy leverages its global facilities to offer such a unique service. Clients can ship their raw components directly to Ivy’s facilities, where configuration-to-order customizations are performed.

This pre-configuration reduces deployment time from weeks to days and eliminates out-of-the-box failures, as Ivy handles setup and quality assurance before shipping the product. The process becomes much faster, and the customer experience is more reliable.

Moreover, because of Ivy’s refurbishment and repair capabilities, it can handle defective parts from various sources, including OEM partners and customer locations.

These items are brought to Ivy’s state-of-the-art facility, where a comprehensive triage, service maintenance, complete retrofit, rebuild, or refurbishment process is carried out.

Besides these, Dennis Maddock, VP, North American business development, says, “Having the right spare parts on hand is equally crucial. These parts are like the lifeblood of the automation system; if they’re defective or missing, the whole system can grind to a halt.”

Cost-effective and swift spare parts management forms another core area where the company excels. Although OEMs do provide spare parts pools, Ivy’s strategically located distribution centers in North America, Europe, and Asia optimize this process, enhancing affordability and timeliness. These centers facilitate the direct dispatch of OEM spare parts to client’s locations, often achieving next-day delivery, and in some cases, same-day delivery.

In one instance, a client faced the challenge of managing an extensive inventory of over 200,000 different parts for a large-scale project with a 30- to 40-week timeline. These parts often come from multiple vendors, leading to varying work instructions and a lack of documentation on deployment procedures.

Ivy does not impose its philosophies on clients; instead, it adopts a consultative and collaborative stance to gain a deep understanding of their requirements

Recognizing this significant challenge, Ivy designed and implemented a comprehensive system capable of cataloguing incoming parts, including capturing images for easy identification. This system ensured every associate knew what part they were handling, even if parts shared similar descriptions but served different functions within the project.

Ivy took a step further and also centralized this cataloged information to document clear work instructions for each part’s deployment. Whether a part of a larger assembly or individual placement, the client efficiently started handling diverse parts from various vendors and ensuring efficient project execution.

In recounting this success story, Victor Carvajal, director of commercial strategy, says, “One thing clients always ask me is, ‘What’s Ivy’s model?’” His response succinctly encapsulates Ivy’s approach: “Our model is the client’s success.”

Ivy does not impose its philosophies on clients; instead, it adopts a consultative and collaborative stance to gain a deep understanding of their requirements. This client-centric approach remains a key contributor to Ivy’s remarkable success.
