3PLs that specialize in time-only agreements with suppliers lean on their Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to streamline the operation. For example, if the 3PL store's raw materials for the retailer, the WMS will be alerted whenever an order is placed requiring those materials.

3PL Inbound Logistics Services
Here are some of the primary resources that 3PLs will deliver on the company's behalf to focus on their core manufacturing operations.
Third-Party Procurement
Right now, the customers are expected to spend a decent percentage of their time negotiating and ordering products from package suppliers, nuts, bolts, and other consumable parts and materials. Although essential, these practices do little to increase the production of the factory. 3PL third-party contracting providers can help.
The way it works is simple: the 3PL gathers the components, stocks them, handles the inventory, and invoices the firms only for the parts they use when required. The 3PL would apply manufacturing funding expenses to the total cost of the operation, and there would have to be a contractual agreement that ensured imported supplies would be included.
Kitting Services
For several manufacturers, pre-assembly of components is often needed during the manufacturing process. This assembly will take a lot of time (and inventory space and workforce). Many producers use 3PL kitting facilities to save a good chunk of this time and, with it, a good chunk of money. As carried out by the 3PL, kitting is the process of gathering the individual parts of the component, compiling them together in a kit, and then supplying the kit to the manufacturing operation for assembly.
Just in time (JIT) Delivery
Just in Time (JIT) delivery is a lean production logistics technique in which goods are held off-site and shipped to the manufacturer exactly where they are expected (as determined by demand signals or a pre-determined schedule). These materials may be nuts, bolts, and packaging parts, or they may be custom kits pre-assembled by a 3PL in a nearby location and shipped as needed.
3PLs that specialize in time-only agreements with suppliers lean on their Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to streamline the operation. For example, if the 3PL store's raw materials for the retailer, the WMS will be alerted whenever an order is placed requiring those materials. The 3PL will then supply the retailer directly so that the final product can be made.
