Merchants Fleet expects BrightDrop EV600s to join the fleet of its customers by early 2023.

FREMONT, CA: Merchants Fleet, one of the fastest-growing fleet management firm, unveiled plans to further electrify its portfolio with BrightDrop, the latest General Motors-backed business delivering first-to-last-mile electrical goods and software services. Merchants is partnering with BrightDrop to buy 12,600 BrightDrop EV600s, an all-new electric light commercial vehicle intended to transport products and services for an extended period. The EV600 is powered by the Ultium battery system and combines zero-emission driving with segment-leading safety technology. Merchants Fleet expects BrightDrop EV600s to join the fleet of its customers by early 2023.

“We are proud to be the first fleet management company to work with BrightDrop, the innovative and vital new solution from GM,” said Brendan P. Keegan, CEO, Merchants Fleet. “Merchants Fleet is fully committed to the future of electrification, and working to add BrightDrop EV600s to our clients’ fleets is an exciting part of our broader strategy. We look forward to continuing to expand our EV fleet capabilities to provide our clients with a range of electric vehicle services and solutions to meet their evolving needs.”

“Merchants Fleet’s move to add such a large number of BrightDrop EV600s to their portfolio signals their strong commitment to accelerate the electric fleet movement, and their belief that BrightDrop solutions will help them and their clients achieve a greener and more efficient future,” said Travis Katz, President, and CEO, BrightDrop.

Merchants Fleet plans to have 50 percent of its hybrid mobility fleet portfolio by 2025 and 50 percent of its fully electric fleet portfolio by 2030. Electrify Fleet, an ambitious vehicle electrification program intended to quickly deliver new electric commercial vehicles on the market with OEM partners, was officially unveiled by the organization. In addition to increasing the availability of EVs, the program further focuses on informing clients about the benefits, applications, and solutions available to them and offering tools and insights to help them make their entry into EV smooth and cost-effective. In December 2020, Merchants employed industry-leading electrification specialist Hari Nayar as Director of Electrification and Sustainability to lead its program.
