Which robots can be used for logistics?
Different machines and robots are used in logistics automation. A robot can be used for any of the following operations, depending on the operation:
Goods receipt and dispatch: Using logistics robots to handle product receipt and dispatch is possible using systems that automatically load and unload trucks, inserting and removing pallets from trucks autonomously with minimal operator intervention. Additionally, automated conveyors can be used to speed up goods receipt and dispatch, two of the most frequent warehouse processes.
Storage robots: When storing and retrieving items from the racks, stacker cranes stand out for their capacity and agility for both box (mini loads) and pallets. A stacker crane might consist of a single mast, twin mast, or AS/RS trilateral stacker. Pallets are automatically inserted and removed from racks by these logistics robots, which move horizontally and vertically in the storage aisles. Pallet shuttles are also very common automated solutions for companies with large goods inflows and outflows.
Order picking: Logistics robots in box preparation are exemplified by AS/RS for boxes. With this configuration, operators prepare orders using a goods-to-person method at their pick stations using a stacker crane and a conveyor for boxes.
Internal goods movements: A logistics robot system such as a box or pallet conveyor system makes it possible to connect various zones in a warehouse in a variety of configurations, which facilitates the movement of goods.
